Capacity Magic is a powerful application that enables you to accurately calculate the effective storage capacity of your current and future IBM Disk Subsystems using a simple and clear graphical dialog.

As single box capacities keep increasing, Storage Managers are finding a need to set up a Disk Subsystem for more than one purpose: for example, to accommodate archival storage capacity and high-performance online transaction data base capacity.

To manually compute the effective storage capacity of the Disk Subsystem, you would require a great knowledge of RAID schemes, effective RAID rank capacities and the increasingly complex sparing and configuration rules used by the Disk Subsystem.

With Capacity Magic you can automate this procedure and minimise the chance of errors. It allows you to define different DDM and RAID type combinations, automatically applying the correct configuration and sparing rules, ensuring you know the result will be a valid configuration with an accurate calculation of how much effective capacity is available to your servers.
